KUCHING: The Sarawak Islamic Council for the first time held a food festival with the participation of more than 40 food and product entrepreneurs at the Majma Mall Complex, here, yesterday.
Chairman of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha said, the programme held was to increase and introduce the importance of getting halal certificates among entrepreneurs to produce halal products and food.
“This programme also aims to increase business activities for traders in the area considering that the Islamic Complex is one of the preferred locations during the fasting month.
“Usually, this Islamic Complex will always be visited during the fasting month only, we can see that it is one of the preferred locations when the food stall reservations are almost full by the fasting month of 2023.
“Besides that, this programme will increase or introduce halal certificates to traders so that it is easy for them to sell their goods,” he said while speaking at a ceremony here yesterday.
The programme was also attended by the Premier’s wife and president of Association of Wives of Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Sarawak (Sabati) Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, who then officiated at the festival.
Among other highlight during the festival was a programme by local chef, Chef Muluk with ‘Maggie Masak-masak Kitchen’ together with the public.
