KOTA SAMARAHAN: The first ever marathon in Samarahan will be held this coming August, with 3,000 people expected to participate.
Chairman of Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) Datuk Peter Minos stated that participants will be from all over Sarawak, including other parts of Malaysia and overseas.
“With the intention of promoting sports and healthy lifestyle, the marathon also seeks to make Kota Samarahan more known and exposed to tourism and cuisine centre alongside local cultures,” he said in a statement.
The marathon will be co-organised with Hock Seng Lee (HSL) Berhad.
Minos then added that he is proud that Kota Samarahan is growing fast, as more development will soon be happening including the forthcoming medical hub.
“Take it from MPKS, after the traffic jam problems being sorted out, the area will witness a second wave of development.
“The next 10 years will be an extremely busy and exciting time for Kota Samarahan,” he added.
He expects that the marathon will be held annually should it turn to be a successful one by the time it is held in August.
