KUCHING: Earning an income from selling nasi lemak ayam berempah (coconut milk rice with spiced chicken) during the pandemic is a source of pride for Bibi Rana Abdul Rahim, 29.

The business that she runs with her sister Umi Halida has the strong support of family members.

“We started the business in 2019, using the name RS Delicious, which is based on the first letters of the names of both our parents.

“Apart from supporting the family, this business is also a step to challenge one’s ability in business.

“This is because I’m very interested in business and would like to see my achievements in this field,” she told Suara Sarawak on Tuesday (March 9).

According to Rana, the online business was operated in her own home as they still do not have a stall.

“Our business relies entirely on courier services for orders made by customers.

“We operate from 9am to 2pm everyday and doing deliveries to customers at the same time.”

“This includes requests from customers who are undergoing mandatory quarantine at hotels.”

She explained that the various ingredients prepared in the nasi Iemak included roasted peanuts, boiled eggs, fried chicken, sambal and cucumber.

“We offer prices as low as RM6, while delivery charges range from RM2 to RM4 depending on the distance.

“So far, among the challenges we have faced is related to the movement process to send orders to customers as they live in different locations.”
