Increase in Covid-19 cases with Kuching top

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 602 new Covid-19 cases during Epid (epidemiological) Week 31, an increase from Epid Week 30’s 505 cases.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) weekly statement, Kuching remained the state’s most affected district during both weeks, with 220 and 167 cases respectively.

In Epid Week 31, Miri (102 cases); Sibu (88), Bintulu (40), Samarahan (32), and Sarikei (11) were among the districts that saw double-digit cases.

The remaining districts with zero positive cases in Epid Week 31 were Song, Kabong, Kanowit, Lundu, Selangau, Julau, Tebedu, Belaga, Pusa, and Sebauh.

This takes the cumulative cases to 310,243 in Epid Week 31 from 309,641 in Epid Week 30.

Meanwhile, there was one death from Sarikei recorded in Week 31 while the week prior recorded one death case in Sibu.
