KUCHING: Bandar Kuching incumbent, Dr Kelvin Yii welcomes the announcement of the polling day date on November 19, however, with reservation.

But at the same time, he does encourage and urges the voters to cast their votes on that day.

He said being on Saturday, he hopes it will somehow intensify more to come out to vote.

“I think my main concern being on the November 19, towards the end of November is the monsoon season and we must beware of our erratic weather.

“Even currently we are experiencing floods all around Malaysia and we don’t want such phenomena or such incidents to be obstacle for the people to go out to vote,” he said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune today.

He hopes the election commission (EC) will carry out the election in a free and fair manner that every party either side shall carry out whether the election or campaign based on all rules stated in the election act itself.

“So, I welcome the announcement with reservation but I encourage and urge the public to come out and vote and make your voices heard because this will set the direction of our country for the next five years.

“We must set the country that is towards the right direction, country that builds on the basis of good governance and anti-corruption,” he pointed out.
