JAKARTA: Authorities of Indonesia and the Philippines have coordinated on efforts to find out the perpetrators of the suicide attacks at a Roman Catholic church in southern Philippines on Jan 27 that killed 22 people and wounded 100 others, Xinhua news agency reported, quoting Indonesian minister on Monday.

Indonesian chief security minister Wiranto said that the country’s anti-terror agency and foreign ministry would send personnel to the Philippines.

“Let’s wait, the agency and the foreign ministry are tracing the case, and will send staff to the scene,” Wiranto said at his office.

On claims raised by Philippine Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Ano that an Indonesian couple were perpetrator of the twin bombings, Wiranto said that it was too early to make such accusation as investigation is being undertaken by the Philippine side to find out the identity of the bombers.

Wiranto suggested all sides wait for the result of the probe over the nationality of the perpetrators.

“The authorities of the Philippines are carrying out investigation to find out the identity of the perpetrators. There are still many possibilities, please do not be hasty in determining that the bombers are Indonesian nationals,” Wiranto said.
