BINTULU: Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) recognises Sarawak’s experience and expertise in the renewable energy industry.
As such, he is keen to collaborate with Sarawak to generate clean energy.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said three ways ago, Jokowi invited him to continue working with Indonesia to build hydro-electric dams in North Kalimantan.
“Why are they seeking Sarawak’s help? Jokowi told me Sarawak has the experience.
“So, we will share our experience with our friends in Indonesia. Our capabilities have been recognised by Jokowi himself,” he said.
He was officiating at the ‘Majlis Tilawah dan Menghafaz Al-Quran Peringkat Negeri Sarawak Ke-62 1444H/2023M’ at Dewan Suarah Bintulu here on Wednesday evening (March 15).
Abang Johari stated that Sarawak’s efforts in the carbon business have also received recognition from foreign experts, partly for being the first in this region to master carbon knowledge.
He is therefore grateful to God for having blessed Sarawak with abundant resources that can be utilized to generate income.
