MUKAH: Narcotic police here arrested an Indonesian labourer on suspicion of being involved in substance abuse on Friday (Feb 4).

The 38-year-old suspect was detained for inspections at the entrance to a farm along Jalan Mukah-Selangau around 4.30pm.

District police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias, who confirmed the case, said they found a plastic packet and 27 straw tubes containing crystalline lumps believed to be methamphetamine.

“The drugs, weighing 5.10g with a street value of RM510, were seized and brought to Mukah police headquarters for further action.

“Background checks found that the suspect did not have any past record. He was also tested positive for drugs,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
