MIRI: A woman, believed to be an Indonesian, was found dead inside a hut in Marina Utama here on Saturday.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah said a team of police and paramedics from Miri Hospital rushed to the scene in response to an emergency alert from the dead woman’s male friend around 6pm.

“Upon arrival, they found a 36-year-old woman lying motionless in the hut,” he said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics.

Lim said preliminary investigation revealed that the woman had been staying together with her male friend (who had made the discovery) for about four years.

“On Aug 1, around 3.30pm, the man, aged 27, went out to buy food for both of them. However, when he returned to the hut about three hours later, he found the woman unconscious on the floor, so he called the police and ambulance,” he explained.

“The case has been classified as sudden death as we found no criminal element at the scene,” he said.
