KUCHING: Queen’s Tribute concert “I Want To Break Free” sees people, including those from Indonesia and Singapore flocking to the state capital to watch the show.
Also attending the concert at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching on Saturday night (July 30) was Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Managing director of Front Row Entertainment Ameerah Alsree said that the concert took approximately 9 weeks to organise and showed a very encouraging response.
“Among those performing at the concert are Alfres Ayal, Alif Putera and the Killer Queen, Dewi Seriestha, Mathew Ngau and many more,” she said.
She expressed gratitude for the steadfast support and guidance of all the many stakeholders and sponsors, including the ministry and everyone else, for assisting them in organising this event on such short notice.
“Even with a tight timeline we‘re still able to get a decent promotion through the help of TVS, and I’m glad we got a decent response and we are very thankful and happy at being ready to show Kuching to the world,” Ameerah said.
She said that the tribute concert tickets were also sold overseas to countries such as Singapore and Indonesia.
All 24 bands performed Queen songs at the tribute performance.
“As you know, Freddie Mercury is no longer with us, so Adam Lambert has taken over the band. So now Queen the band is only touring in Europe, and not performing in Asia or Australia.
“So why don’t we give it a go and invited Alfres Ayal that resembles and sounds like Freddie Mercury too,” she explained
She added that while her team provided Kuching with some enjoyment through the performances, the Kuching Food Festival was also being showcased to all the foreign visitors who came to the concert.
