KUALA LUMPUR: The Information Department (JaPen) is currently systemising the standard operating procedures (SOP) for its media accreditation card (KPM), including the validity period.

In a statement last night, JaPen announced that although systemising the process would take some time, media practitioners could still renew their expired media accreditation cards.

“This process also takes into account the Malaysian Press Institute’s (MPI) recently updated Malaysian Code of Ethics for Journalists the revamped Malaysian Code of Ethics for Journalists,

“Once the process to systemise the SOP of the media accreditation card is complete, JaPen will update all relevant information in the JaPen eMedia system, accessible through https://emedia.penerangan.gov.my/,” the statement read.

JaPen said during the launch of the revamped Malaysian Code of Ethics for Journalists on Feb 20, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil also requested JaPen to review the validity period of JaPen’s media accreditation cards for international and online media. –  BERNAMA
