PUSA: The government will be able to carry out more effective distribution of aid with the implementation of the Main Data Platform (PADU) system.

According to Beting Maro assemblyman Razaili Gapor, the system contains individual profiles and household information, including citizens and permanent residents in Malaysia.

He said the initiative is crucial as it enhances the efficiency of government services, especially in the distribution of aid, subsidies and the like.

“For citizens, PADU ensures that those eligible for government aid won’t be overlooked. For the government, it enables targeted assistance, avoiding waste while facilitating more organised policies and planning,” he said when asked for his views on the PADU system which was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday.

Razaili also emphasised the importance of citizens updating their profiles and having some knowledge of information technology (IT) or digital literacy to fully achieve PADU’s goals.

“PADU encompasses individual profiles containing basic demographic information, address, education, household details, employment, income, commitments, and received aid, and some of this data has been provided by various ministries and agencies integrated into the system.

“However, there is still information that needs to be updated by each individual, involving 39 variables.

“Updating by the individuals themselves will ensure the authenticity of information and data, portraying the current status of citizens in PADU, which will improve targeting mechanisms, strengthen delivery channels and enable more effective programme implementation.

“Therefore, I see that for the system to be effective in rural areas like Beting Maro, telecommunication infrastructure needs to be provided with the best and efficient internet access,” he said.

Furthermore, he added that the government’s initiative should be welcomed, considering PADU’s objective as a secure, comprehensive and near real-time national data platform that allows more precise data analytics.

“And the formulation of policies and decision-making processes based on integrated data, besides enabling targeted policy implementation to balance fiscal positions.

“Its implementation can also enhance management efficiency, facilitating the collection, storage and administration of data from various sources,” he said.
