BINTULU: Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has stressed the importance of innovation in transforming the education system in Malaysia.
He noted the urgent need to integrate technology and adopt new teaching approaches to keep pace with the evolving demands of education.
Tiong said that educators must leverage the latest technology and innovative teaching methods to create a more interactive and effective learning experience for today’s students.
“With this approach, we can ensure that our education system remains relevant and capable of addressing future challenges,” he said.
Tiong’s speech was delivered by his political secretary, Steven Kong Kai Seng, during the Sarawak Education Innovation Convention (KIPS) 2024 and the Bintulu PPD Action Review Symposium 2024, today (Oct 4).
Tiong also urged educators to collaborate in implementing creative ideas to improve the quality of education in Malaysia.
He expressed hope that the convention would serve as a catalyst for new initiatives to promote a more dynamic and relevant education system.
Earlier, Sarawak Education Department director Datuk Azhar Ahmad said the theme of this year’s KIPS, “Innovation at the Core of Education Transformation,” reflects the department’s commitment to supporting the state government’s efforts.
He added that the theme aligns with Sarawak Public Service 2024’s focus on “Service Delivery Excellence Based on Integrity and Innovation.”
Azhar also praised Sarawak schools for their success in introducing innovative teaching and learning methods (PdPc), which have brought recognition to educational institutions in the state throughout 2023.
The innovations, he said, demonstrate that Sarawak is keeping pace with the development of innovative practices in the education sector.
