KUCHING: Integrity remains as one of the important factors which determines how one delivers and fulfils his/her duty, said Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
He applauded the Kuching Water Board on the success of creating and publishing the Organisation Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) 2021-2025.
“Integrity is vital for us to ensure that we are able to do our job with good governance and in accordance with the rules.
“There are many things that may unconsciously lead us astray. Sometimes it can be our desire and greed.
“Integrity needs discipline whereby we must remember to give our best and what is expected of us,” he said during the launching ceremony of Kuching Water Board’s Integrity Day and pre-launching of OACP as well as the state level’s World Water Day celebration on Monday (Mar 22) at the Waterfront Hotel.
Dr Rundi also reminded that the ministry is entrusted with the important task of delivering good quality water.
“With the Water Supply Grid Masterplan for Sarawak, it is hoped that Kuching Water Board, Sibu Water Board and LAKU Management Sdn Bhd will make this a great success.
“Our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has given his full support for us to provide and deliver continuous high quality as well as comprehensive services,” he added.
He also disclosed that Kuching Water Board has established an Integrity Unit as an internal control mechanism to ensure the administrative management of the board is free from corruption, abused of power and monetisation as well as to strengthen the value of integrity.
Also present during the launching ceremony were Utilities Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Padawan Municipal Council chairman Lo Khere Chiang, Kuching Water Board general manager Rodziah Mohamad and other dignitaries.
