BINTULU: In a recent initiative, 37 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Bintulu Campus’ Bakti Siswa Group 3, Academic Session 2023/2024, collaborated with the UPM Bintulu Campus Student Management Office to host a Bakti Siswa Programme at SK Sebauh.

This programme aimed to highlight the significance of English as a vital language in education.

“The focus isn’t just on strengthening community ties, but also on encouraging pupils to embrace English through interactive learning,” said Muhammad Ruzain Aqmar Ibrahim, the programme director.

The two-day event featured various activities designed to engage and educate. These included Ice Breaking sessions, a Treasure Hunt with six checkpoints featuring distinct games, and a Choral Speaking contest for primary 1 to 6 pupils.

“The event, which saw the participation of 74 individuals, including SK Sebauh pupils, Bakti Siswa students, lecturers, and teachers, was a resounding success,” he added.

Looking forward, Muhammad Ruzain hoped to see more English-centric programmes in the future, emphasising the language’s relevance for children’s future careers and education.
