KUCHING: The 10th Sarawak Amateur Masters Gold Open Golf Championship 2017 for Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing Challenge Trophy will be held from Sept 29 to Oct 1.
Held at the Sarawak Golf Club (KGS), a total of 300 golfers will be competing in both categories namely the Men’s Open and Invited Guest Categories.
In a press conference held at Riverside Majestic, Masing said the golfers consist of those from Taiwan, Brunei, Sabah and Peninsular Malaysia.
“The open category will play on the first and second day where 120 golfers will compete.
“The top 36 golfers will be playing in the final round held on the third day simultaneously with the invited guest category,” said Masing, who will be participating in the latter category.
Meanwhile, the hole-in-one prizes worth over RM18,000 is up for grabs in both categories comrpising one set of Callaway Apex Iron Set, one set of Callaway XR Steelhead NSPRO, one set of Fourteen PC555 Iron Set and one set of Maruman TW Pro with Shimada Iron Set.
“Additional hole-in-one prizes worth over RM212,000 on the final day will also be up for grabs and to be shared equally if there are more than one winner.
“The prizes are Toyota Fortuner 2.7 SRZ at 4X4 (2694 CC) valued at RM180,000, one unit of Harley Davidson Street 750 2015 6 speed value at RM80,000, Tag Heuer Carrera GMT Grande Date valued at RM15,050 and Oris Big Crown Propiot valued at RM15,900.
“I welcome all our Malaysian golfers to participate in this championship as the closing date for entries is on Sept 18,” said Masing.
Entry fee for the open category is RM300 per golfer, inclusive of buggy service and service tax.
