KUCHING: The investiture ceremony scheduled for March 25 here has been postponed until further notice due to the Covid-19 situation, according to Datuk Mustapa Han, senior private secretary to the Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sarawak.
He said the postponement is in compliance with a directive of the State Disaster Management Committee yesterday for the temporary postponement of all government official functions involving 50 or more people.
“The rehearsal (for the investiture) scheduled for Tuesday March 24, 2020, is also cancelled.
“It is hoped that all would-be recipients of honours invited to these events will take note of the postponement,” he said.
Meanwhile, several events involving Sarawak Cabinet members have also been cancelled beginning Sunday following the committee’s directive as a precaution against Covid-19.
Several international events scheduled for between March and July this year in Sarawak have also been postponed for the same reason. – Bernama
