KUCHING: Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh (MBI) paid a courtesy visit on Mayor of Kuching South Datuk Wee Hong Seng at his office on Monday.
The delegation, led by Mayor of Ipoh Datuk Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud, included MBI City Secretary Tuan Ahamad Munir Ishak, Councillor Mohader Ahmad Mohammad Ayob, Councillor Abu Bakar Haji Hussian and Councillor Mohamad Annuar Baharudin.
On hand to welcome the visitors were Wee, MBKS Deputy Mayor Tuan Hilmy and Acting City Secretary Puan Zainab Haji Marzali.
“A delegation of 42 officers, including the Mayor, Councilors, and MBI officers, visited MBKS for benchmarking and sharing objectives in terms of tourism and the Kuching gastronomy adventure.
“The councils discussed Kuching as a Gastronomy City and how Kuching South just earned the ASEAN Tourist City Standard Award. Ideas were also exchanged and experiences shared between the two city councils,” a statement said.
Wee expressed his appreciation to Rumaizi and MBI for choosing MBKS for its bench-marking purposes.
“It means that MBKS has the ability and capability to be the example for other City Councils. MBKS should also learn more about other City Councils,” he said.
Wee also stated that he welcomed the delegation to Kuching and hoped the visitors would have a great time exploring Kuching City.
“Bench-marking with other City Councils is one of the ways for each city to move forward in terms of administering a city, .
“We need to see and learn from each other as much as possible since both councils have their own ways on managing and administering their cities,” he added.
