KUCHING: Graduates of the Agriculture Institute Sarawak (IPS) have been urged to embrace and acquire knowledge and skills in technology, including digital marketing, robotics, and data analysis.

Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development, Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said such skills would make the graduates more competitive in meeting the industry’s needs in the digital era.

“The graduates are also responsible for playing a role in transforming and modernising the agricultural sector by contributing energy in the field of agriculture either as salaried workers or as agricultural entrepreneurs.

“The role in ensuring food safety is not only placed on the shoulders of the ministry,” he said in his speech read by Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development (Food Industry), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail at the 18th IPS Convocation Ceremony at Penview Convention Centre (PCC) Demak here today (Nov 30).

Dr Rundi added that the ministry alone cannot shoulder the responsibility of ensuring food safety, calling for collaboration from various parties.
