KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Masing has said that he finds it ironic that former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is only interested in the rights of Sarawak now.
He was commenting on the “ceramah” (talk) held by Pakatan Harapan which Mahathir attended here last weekend.
Mahathir, who is chairman of the opposition coalition, Pakatan Harapan, has said that he will look into the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) to see whether the rights of Sarawak had been adhered to.
“It is ironic because when he was the Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir never touched on them until now when he wants voters to vote for Pakatan Harapan.
Masing added he was surprised that parties from Sarawak, including the state Democratic Action Party (DAP), took part in the ‘ceramah’.
He said this after distributing MRP grants to 28 recipients at Baitulmakmur here yesterday.
