SIBU: Throngs of people from all walks of life came together on Saturday to celebrate the wedding reception of Irynna Annuar, daughter of Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee.
The joyous event took place at the Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor Hall at Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS).
Irynna and her husband, Duncan Soo Zi Xu, met in 2020 while working on the film Ceroboh, where Irynna served as the set designer and Duncan as the sound recordist.
Bonding over their mutual love for hiking and cats, the couple got engaged in December 2023 after three years of friendship and married in early June this year.
During the ceremony, the couple entered the venue with Irynna’s parents, Dr Annuar and Datin Dr Haniza Zainal Abidin (bride’s mother) as well as Duncan’s parents, Steven Soo and Ong Lee Ming.
Dr Annuar in giving his blessings to the couple hoped his daughter’s marriage will last forever.
“I also want to extend my gratitude to both families for your endless support in ensuring today’s ceremony runs smoothly despite coming from afar just to attend,” he added.
On Saturday night, Irynna and her husband will host a private wedding celebration, in the presence of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
On Sunday, the couple will host a wedding reception in a longhouse at the Nangka constituency.
