Anyone planning a trip to northern California has several options if they want to find out more about the potential impact of the wildfires that have been ravaging the western US state.
The so-called Camp Fire has claimed at least 42 lives, making it the deadliest single blaze in the state since records began.
The latest warnings about the spread of the fire can be found at calfire.ca.gov, while anyone with concerns about air quality should check airnow.gov for a list of the air quality index (AQI) in different areas of the state.
Travel alerts, meanwhile, can be found at dot.ca.gov, the website of the California Department of Transportation.
Anyone planning a trip to California is also advised to call their hotel or the regional tourism authority for advice.
At its height, the Camp Fire spread to about 47,350 hectares, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). A total of 7,177 properties have been destroyed by it, the authorities said.
Though the blaze has now been brought partly under control, it will not be completely contained before the end of November, according to official estimates. – dpa
