KUCHING: Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong has been asked to explain why it was wrong for the Sarawak United People’s Party Kuching branch chairperson Datuk Lily Yong and her team to go round promoting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) logo with the cross mark “x” in a box next to it.
A political secretary to the chief minister, Soo Li Ching posed the question to Violet.
She was commenting on a Facebook post by Violet who questioned how the logo could be promoted with a cross sign next to it even though it was not the Sarawak election campaign period now.
“She is jealous that GPS is able to go around and introduce the GPS logo because DAP cannot introduce theirs.
“They use Warisan logo in Sabah and PKR logo in Semenanjung, maybe PSB logo in Sarawak?,” Soo said in her Facebook post.
Although Violet did not mention names in her post, it was clear she was referring to Lily and her team because she attached a picture of a news report which showed Lily and the branch members showing the GPS flag and an example of the ballot paper.
Lily last Saturday (Sept 19), said that so far, SUPP Kuching branch had organised five programmes to hand over the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and at the same time, introduce the GPS logo.
“There are many programmes to launch the GPS logo since last year in rural areas but not so many in the urban areas.
“Therefore, we feel that it is essential and very important to continuously educate, tell and alert our people on the ground about this logo,” she told reporters at the event.
