BINTULU: Heads of households affected by the recent fire in Kampung Baru Tatau received cash assistance from the Islamic Welfare Trust Board (LAKIB) Bintulu on Tuesday.
Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, who is also the chairman of LAKIB, along with Tatau District administrative officer, Raden Azamry handed over financial aid to the fire victims. Iskandar hopes that the assistance will alleviate the burden on the affected families.
The fire, which occurred on July 26, destroyed four houses in Kampung Baru Tatau, leaving 29 people homeless.
Tatau Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Jankey Jikat in an initial report, stated that firefighters were dispatched to the scene as soon as they received an emergency call at 3.26pm.
The fire also destroyed four vehicles belonging to the residents. No casualties were reported as the residents managed to evacuate safely.
