KUCHING: The question of which Covid-19 vaccine brand is better should not even be posed especially when the country is facing a tough situation to curb the pandemic, according to a government official.
Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) coordinator Dr Annuar Rapaee said instead of debating over the brand, all parties should take advantage of whatever type of vaccine the government obtains at this time as it provides protection to individuals and society as a whole.
“I always say that if asked which vaccine is the best, (my answer) is the first vaccine we can get regardless of type.
“In a pandemic situation, we not only want to break the chain of infection but also to create herd immunity; this is most important,” he said when met by reporters at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.
Dr Annuar said the state and federal governments would provide the best Covid-19 vaccines for the people of Sarawak.
Earlier, Dr Annuar, who is also University College of Technology Sarawak chairman, paid a courtesy call to Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia. – Bernama
