KUCHING: Alexis DanceSport Studio held its annual Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) Award Presentation Ceremony last Saturday to acknowledge the successful candidates during the ISTD examinations in 2016.
A total of 17 students from all age groups successfully passed the various medals tests in Latin American and Modern Ballroom dancing, achieving a total of 4 bronzes in Modern Ballroom dancing, as well as 5 bronzes and 8 silvers in Latin American dancing.
Meanwhile, Ms. Alexis Jap, a prominent figure in the local DanceSport scene, successfully passed her Licentiate examinations and is the youngest female Licentiate in the country at present.
Ms.Ngiap Ker Sing on the other hand, also successfully passed the Student Teacher examinations, thus making both of them internationally recognized qualified instructors.
In addition to the ISTD Awards, Alexis DanceSport Studio also presented two prizes to two of their students – Ms.Lavender Cheng and Ms.Pung Cheng Khee in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the SPM examinations last year. Both successfully ranked amongst the top scorers in Sarawak while being active dancers in the past few years. Its principal Victor Bong believes in balancing academics with co-curricular activities such as dancesportfor the benefit of every child’s development. By acquiring good time management skills and putting in dedicated effort, he believes that everyone is able to achieve success in both fields.
