KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says he has no knowledge of the planned purported audience with Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah by leaders of political parties.
The news caught him by surprise as he had not heard anything about it.
“Where did you (reporters) hear it from, I do not know… I do not know,” he told reporters after launching the food assistance distribution to households affected by the movement control order (MCO) under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) 6.0 at Darul Ehsan Mosque in Kampung Haji Baki here today.
Abang Johari, who is also the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman, was asked to comment on whether the King would be meeting party leaders after an online news portal quoted a source saying that he would hold a meeting with top political party leaders to get their views on the Covid-19 situation in the country.
The meeting was also to discuss the proclamation of the emergency, which will expire on August 1, the source said, adding that the King would be meeting Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who is also president of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) first.
This will be then followed by leaders of other political parties.
