KUCHING: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has the power and prerogative to appoint Latheefa Beebi Koya as the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) new chief commissioner and now what we can do is just to accept it and to see the progress of her service, said political observer, Datuk Peter Minos.
“I have heard that many are wondering and asking why Latheefa Beebi Koya, a PKR member was picked?
“Only the prime minister has the answer and only he knew the reasons why,” Minos added.
He also said that we can all speculate only or think maybe the prime minister likes and admires her characters which are said to be strong and firm.
“Perhaps, the lady is strong enough to lead the MACC and to continue the war against corruption and other related problems. Maybe, the prime minister also thinks that she has the legal mind to do a good job at MACC,” Minos opined.
He also pointed out that there may be other reasons for the prime minister to make the appointment.
