KUCHING: The vaccination of local adolescents aged 12 to 15 is expected to commence next week.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said he has been informed of this.
“The Kuching Division Health Office will work together with Kuching District Education Office will carried out the programme from school by school, similar to the process for 16 to 17-year-olds earlier,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Sept 23).
Dr Sim, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, urged parents or guardians to get the children vaccinated before booster doses for high-risk groups and medical frontliners get underway soon,” he said.
He reckoned that Sarawak is lucky as it had just vaccinated most of its adult population when the Delta variant arrived.
“Otherwise, we would be like the rest of Malaysia such Selangor, Penang, and Sabah where the number of deaths have been high,” he said.
