SIMANGGANG: Three individuals between the ages of 25 and 30 were each fined RM500 and sentenced to one week’s jail after being found guilty of violating the movement control order (MCO) last April.
According to a statement from the Betong District Health Office, the trio was sentenced by Magistrate Maris Agan at the Sri Aman Magistrate’s Court on June 24 and 25.
They were charged under Regulation 3 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in the local area of infection) (No.2) 2020 which provides for a fine of not more than RM1,000 or imprisonment not exceeding six months or both upon conviction.
The three were ordered to serve time at the Sri Aman central prison.
