KUCHING: The Magistrate’s Court yesterday sentenced a businesswoman to two and half years in jail plus fines for property investment fraud involving losses of RM192,000.
Chai Hui, 42, pleaded guilty to all the 13 charges of fraud committed between February and August 2017, in three separate courts.
The accused, who was unrepresented, had deceived victims to make payments to her in stages, amounting to RM192,000, and the money was used for her personal benefit.
Chai, who was arrested here on Monday by a police team from the Sarawak Commercial Crime Investigation Department, was convicted under Section 420 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
