KUCHING: Indonesia welcomes the Employment Recalibration Plan 2.0 (RTK2.0) which allows its people in Sarawak to continue to work in various sectors with valid documents.
Consul-General of Republic of Indonesia Raden Sigit Witjaksono said the programme is good as it allows Indonesians to work legally and that the consulate has helped its people to get legal working documents.
“We have notified the authorities in Sarawak that we are carrying out this programme which was launched in July this year.
“We have been receiving applications from our people directly at the consulate and, secondly, we do an outreach programme in plantations or factories, for companies to make the applications,” Sigit said after the flag-raising ceremony in conjunction with Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day at the Consulate General Indonesia Republic building here this morning.
He said this is an opportunity for companies here to make RTK applications for its foreign workers, especially Indonesians, and it will be a benefit for all quarters.
The consul-general urged local companies with Indonesian workers who have no valid working documents to help apply for these documents as quickly as possible.
“We call on them to help the Indonesian workers to participate in the RTK programme to get them valid working documents.
“This will surely benefit the companies, the workers, the authorities and the consulate,” he said.
Sigit said six companies have submitted applications under the RTK programme.
“About 800 applications have been approved. So we hope we can get this done quickly together for everyone’s convenience.”
