KUCHING: Syarikat Jakel Holdings Sendirian Berhad will set up two new JAKEL branches in Sarawak next year.
Its group managing director, Datuk Mohamed Faroz Mohamed Jakel said the company will cooperate with the Sarawak government to open a store under one roof here and Miri.
“So far JAKEL has 23 branches all over the country except Sarawak and Penang, we will also open an ARIANI Store which is popular for its scarves and shawls.
“We will also set up JAKEL Karpet where we now have 30 branches throughout Malaysia,” he said.
He said this when met by the media after paying a courtesy call on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at his office here today (23 June).
Mohamed Faroz added that during the courtesy call, he also conveyed JAKEL’s desire to collaborate with local companies for the franchise concept.
“We have visited several sites yesterday but we want to find a bigger site by purchasing land or collaborating with the Sarawak government to build in an integrated building and bring economic opportunities to the local community,” he explained.
He added that his side is also working with the largest shareholder in a renewable energy company, Cypark Resources Berhad, which has expertise in building floating solar.
“We took this initiative because JAKEL is not only focused on clothing and textiles, but we have also invested in real estate and construction companies for a long time and it is our company’s goal to develop important areas such as renewable energy,” he said.
