DATUK Sri Huang Tiong Sii (GPS-Repok) told the august House that the upgrading work of Jalan Nyelong needed to be completed urgently to ease traffic congestion in Sarikei.
“With the increase in heavy traffic along Jalan Repok, many commuters are using the alternative road, Jalan Nyelong By-Pass to commute in and out of Sarikei,” he said when debating on the TYT’s opening address yesterday.
He added that the upgrading of the Jalan Nyelong-By-Pass was approved under Projek Rakyat.
Huang also requested the government to consider building a telecommunication tower in Repok to facilitate internet access to the rural area.
“The topic involving mobile technology has been a hot issues debated globally and in our country, but unfortunately it is still an issue in my area because many areas such as Bulat, Kim San, Bayong and Merudu still do not have fixed-lines and internet access coverage,” he pointed out.
Huang also wanted the State government to build a new commercial wharf at a strategic location along the Sungai Nyelong as the current wharf is not safe to be used by heavy trucks.
