KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat recently graced the “Harmonious Foochow Night and Office Bearers Installation Banquet” held at the Civic Centre here.

The function organised by Kapit Foochow Association featured the installation of its new committee members from the main body, youth’s wing, women’s wing and veteran section.

In his speech, Jamit said he believed Kapit Foochow Association, which had existed for 90 years was one of the oldest Chinese associations in the Kapit district.

“As a well-established association, I hope you could rise up to shoulder the responsibility of raising the social-economic status of members and Kapit community in general. Let you be the community champion and advocate for businesses. You also need to leverage on the talents and resources of member businesses to improve the economic opportunities for all,” he said.
