KAPIT: To coincide with his visit here, Bukit Goram Assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat inspected various projects under various stages of implementation. Accompanying him for the visit were government officials, community leaders and staffs of PBB Bukit Goram Service Centre. His first inspection was on the 200m long and 8ft wide cement access road from the junction of the main road to the 30-door longhouse of Rumah Untang Jirau, Nanga Sekura, in Sungai Ulu Yong here.
The folks of Rumah Untang thanked Jamit for approving the road project to improve accessibility and enhance quality of life at the longhouse.
Vehicles can now be driven up to the door-step instead of being parked along the main road some distance away from the longhouse. The front part of the longhouse has also been levelled for the convenience of folks to park their vehicles. Jamit was happy with the quality of works done by the contractor.
“This RM100,000 cement road is constructed under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for the benefit of Rumah Untang Jirau. I am happy to see the quality work done by the contractor. “The contractor is commended for helping the folks to level the front part of their longhouse for parking purposes without additional cost,” he said.
He told the folks that the government reciprocate their support during the last State Election and the road project was just one of the government’s many initiatives to improve basic infrastructure. “He can help to facilitate many development projects in Kapit. Hence, we must give him undivided support to ensure that more money for development will come to Kapit. “We also ensure that all the Village Security and Development Communities (JKKKs), Parents-Teacher Associations (PTAs), community associations and clubs are well looked after,” explained Jamit.
