KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat recently paid a visit to his constituents here over the weekend.

Accompanying Jamit were Deputy Kapit Resident Galong Luang, PBB Bukit Goram deputy chairman Watson Awan, ASP Chiew Swoi Kee and Inspector Mackey.

Among the places he visited was Rumah Richard Lembau along Jalan Bleteh-Yong. The visit was made to inspect the various development projects under Minor Rural Project (MRP) and Rural Transformation Project (RTP) including Jalan Hubung Desa, steel bridges, cemented road, and riverbank retention walls.

At the meet the people session at the longhouse, Tuai Rumah Richard Lembau, on behalf of his longhouse folk, pledged their undivided support to Jamit.

“Since you were elected as our elected representative in 2016, the people have only good comments about you. They (public) said you are friendly and hardworking, always on the toes to visit them and inspect the projects implemented by the government.

“They want you to continue to be their elected people’s representatives and would give you their votes to ensure your victory in the coming state election. On behalf of my longhouse, we pledge to give our undivided support to you,” said Tuai Rumah Richard.

Jamit then thanked Tuai Rumah Richard and his people for their support.

He also urged the people of Kapit to show their undivided support to the GPS government to ensure continuity of the developments earmarked for the area.

He appealed to the people to be politically united in order to move forward and focus more on issues pertaining to developing Sarawak.

Commenting on his visit to Rumah Richard, Jamit explained that he wanted to inspect the access road (Projek Naiktaraf Jalan Hubung Desa) to the longhouse constructed earlier.

“The allocation for the first phase of the Projek Jalan Hubung Desa to this longhouse under the RTP was insufficient to cover the whole distance. I proposed more funds to complete the road under RTP 2020 for the purpose.

“I toured the longhouse and based on the feedback received, I would allocate some funds to improve the longhouse. I also announced RM5,000 MRP fund for JKKK to purchase water pump and the accessories to help overcome the shortage of water supply during the dry season. I was told during the prolong drought, the gravity feed pipe was insufficient to supply water to all households,” said Jamit.
