KUCHING: A Japanese speech contest will be held this coming Sept 9 at the Sarawak Japan Friendship Club, Jalan Song Thian Cheok here. This contest, organised by Sarawak Japan Friendship Club, aims to promote the usage of Japanese language in the state.
This contest is also deemed as one of the initiatives taken to further enhance the diplomatic relationship between Sarawak and Japan. According to the club’s president Dr Wakabayashi Kazuhiro, the contest is open to all the fluent Japanese speakers.
“Even though the contest would be done fully in Japanese, we encourage members of the public to come to the event which is free of charge,” he said. He said this when met at the Japanese Foreign Ministry Award presentation at Hilton Hotel here last Sunday.
