SIBU: Newly renovated Jaya Li Hua Food Court finally opens its door to the public today (March 10) by offering a variety of local and international delicacies.
Build right next to Jaya Li Hua Market, the food court, which is deemed as a higher-end eatery, is has nine stalls and 30 tables that can accommodate up to 120 customers.
Person in charge of the food court, Sibu municipal councillor Anna Lau said that the new food court was designed to attract the public, especially youth.
“The design of this food court is a little higher-end as we want to attract youth to dine here. The food court is the first under the council which is not hawker-style but one which is of higher-end concept,” she said when met by reporters yesterday.
Lau further explained that as the food court was located near a primary school and secondary school, the council hoped parents would stop by after sending their children to school and have breakfast there.
“They (parents) can find it more convenient to have their breakfast or marketing (Jaya Li Hua Market) there rather than going elsewhere for that.
“There are nine stalls offering a different variety of local delicacies. We also have Japanese and Korean food. There are also Dayak food and Hainanese chicken rice,” she said.
The food court, which operates from 6 am to 10 pm, runs on a self-service mode; after ordering and getting their orders, customers have to bring them to their seats.
“After finishing the food and drinks, they would have to send back the crockery to the stalls. The council spent more than RM400,000 to renovate the food court,” she said.
SMC invites the public to enjoy the food during the soft launch of the newly renovated food court today.
