KUCHING: Jaziri Alkaf A Suffian has been appointed as the head of Sarawak Bersatu Leadership Committee.

This was announced during a dialogue session with the Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad at the ‘Berambeh Bersatu Sarawak’ programme held at Pullman Hotel here yesterday.

Jaziri, 41, is an architect and Bersatu Santubong chief.

The appointment was made during a meeting of the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council Aug 29; the high council members led by Dr Mahathir decided to appoint a Sarawak branch committee leader to manage the six divisions under the state Bersatu.

Around 3,000 Bersatu supporters attended the programme where the state Bersatu interim chairman Datuk Seri Dr Azman Samaon stated that there could be more supporters present if not due to the limited space and the current haze situation.

He also mentioned that state Bersatu would continue to recruit more members.

“By December, we expect to reach the target of having 150,000 Bersatu members in the state,” he continued.
