KUCHING: The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) is creating a command centre which will be a platform for easier, efficient, and effective communication with users.
Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the JBALB Command Centre was a one-stop physical and virtual platform for the digitalisation of water supply in JABLB, including corporate communications and customer service.
He said this was the first phase towards full service digitalisation by 2025.
“The JBALB Command Centre is one of the key digitalisation initiatives for sustainable and holistic water supply management in JBALB Sarawak.
“Monitoring aspects of water supply management can be facilitated through the use of the latest digital technology while also ensuring more effective service delivery to customers,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Jan 25).
He shared that on Tuesday night, he had attended the JBALB Divisional Water Engineers Annual Conference Dinner at a hotel here in conjunction with the fourth annual conference of the JBALB Sarawak engineers conference.
He said in his speech, he had spoken of the efforts of the Sarawak government through the Utility and Telecommunication Ministry and JBALB to introduce and implement the Sarawak Water Supply Grid Programme.
“This aims to resolve water supply issues effectively by 2025. The grid programme will focus on critical areas first,” said Julaihi.
Also present were Assistant Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Utility and Telecommunication Ministry permanent secretary Datuk Ir Alice Jawan, and JBALB director Ir Chang Kuet Shian.
