KUCHING: Junior Chamber International (JCI) Sibu Jaya successfully hosted a 2020 JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak Academy (ASA) event which was held from January 10 to 12 at Methodist Centennial Park, Sibu.
The event gathered experienced trainers from various parts of Malaysia and attracted 60 leaders from 13 chapters throughout the state.
ASA is a yearly event where members are inspired, empowered and trained to be good leaders by learning from experienced trainers. The skills acquired can be applied to any circumstances.
Courses on ‘JCI Inspire’, ‘JCI Empower’, and ‘Connect and Impact’ as well as team-building activities were conducted.
Head trainer JCI senator Velvet Ooi, in her speech, emphasised on the theme ― ‘Transformation through Collaboration’.
“Through effective communication and teamwork, we can turn ‘impossible’ into ‘I am possible’,” she said.
JCI is a non-profit organisation for youths aged between 18 to 40 years old with the purpose of providing development opportunities to empower young people to create positive changes.
Development opportunities include individual development, business network expansion, international outreach and community development.
JCI Malaysia Area Sarawak is reaching out to young adults who wish to be a positive change in the community.
