KUCHING: Jepak assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip passed away this evening (September 15) at the age of 72.

It was reported that Talib had been recently admitted to the Normah Medical Specialist Hospital before succumbing to his illness.

His body will be taken to the Semariang Islamic Cemetery Complex at 7:15pm tonight and is expected to be buried at 9pm, according to a WhatsApp message circulated.

Born on September 13, 1951, Talib secured his initial election as Jepak assemblyman in 1996.

The constituency, established during the 1996 redistribution, is entrusted with returning a single representative to the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) through a majority voting system.

It encompasses the polling districts of Kuala Tatau, Sri Dagang, Jepak, Segan, Sungai Ngiyu, and RPR Sebiew.

He was a Minister (Integrity and Ombudsman) in the Chief Minister’s Office since 2017, and was an esteemed member of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

Additionally, he had previously undertaken responsibilities as the Assistant Minister for Infrastructure Development and the Assistant Minister for Urbanization.

Talib’s legacy in the Jepak constituency spanned five consecutive terms, beginning in 1996 and persisting until his recent passing.
