BINTULU: Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) affirms its commitment to complete full scale internet coverage in Sarawak to ensure everyone will benefit from it.
Its general manager, Datuk Dr. Anderson Tiong Ing Heng said that to Jepak assemblyman, Iskandar Turkee during a courtesy visit at SMA office here today (May 29).
“About 90 per cent of Jepak areas are connected with 4G internet,” he stated adding that the internet coverage within the 90 per cent area also comprised of eight locations with 5G access, eight SMA Rural Telecommunication (SMART) towers and 33 other existing infrastructures.
“SMA will stay committed in our efforts in completing the Internet coverage in Sarawak to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy its functions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Iskandar was positive that netizen within his constituency will not be left far behind in the digital economy development.
He also commented that the distance between the cities, villages and rural areas within Jepak will be shortened through the state government’s initiative of internet connectivity facilitated by SMA.
“For those in rural areas, the availability of internet enables them to advertise their products in the digital market.
“I extend my thanks to the SMA for their efforts to expand the internet connectivity to rural areas, especially within Jepak constituency in achieving the Premier’s goal for the state to have a robust digital economy,” commented Iskandar.
