BINTULU: The Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) needs to have comprehensive basic data about their respective villages.
Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee said this is to ensure that every government programme or assistance can be distributed to the target groups accurately and more effectively.
He said leaders or village chiefs, especially JKKK members, need to have information such as the population size, number of single mothers, and the disabled as references for responsible agencies such as the Resident’s Office, District Office, and the Department of Community Development (KEMAS).
“These are the things that I often emphasise, the importance of having a village profile so that we can apply to the state government to expedite the allocation of new land lots and at the same time request the construction of affordable and moderately priced housing for residents in the Jepak constituency.”
Iskandar said this at the Hari Raya gathering of the Bintulu District Muslim Community Chiefs Working Committee here recently.
In addition, he would also bring up issues related to the application for new land lots, youth issues, and affordable housing during the State Legislative Assembly session scheduled to take place from May 6 to 15.
Earlier, the chairman of the working committee, Johny Jimon, said the committee aims to strengthen the relationship between village chiefs, including Muslim community leaders, in Bintulu District.
A total of 34 village chiefs and headmen from across Bintulu District attended the event.
