BINTULU: Voters in the Jepak state constituency have been urged to not squander their votes in the upcoming by-election on Nov 4.
This call comes in an effort to ensure the retention of the Jepak seat under the leadership of the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition, thus ensuring continued development of the region, said Deputy Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat.
He emphasised that this effort is also to ensure that all development plans initiated by the late incumbent, Datuk Dr Talib Zulpilip, are carried forward by the GPS candidate, Iskandar Turkee.
He stressed that Iskandar can only continue these efforts if he secures a mandate and victory in the by-election.
“If he loses, two consequences will follow: first, we will lose the seat for the Vaie people, and second, development in our area will be delayed and hindered,” he said at a meeting with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) at the residence of the village chief of Sebuan Besar Jepak, Waini Osman Johari, on Wednesday (Oct 25).
Additionally, Ripin described the people of Jepak as fortunate due to their location in the rapidly growing Bintulu region, which benefits from the oil and gas industry.
He highlighted the opportunities for employment and encouraged voters to not waste their votes but to ensure a decisive victory in Jepak.
Among the attendees were Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Aidel Lawriwoo, and Iskandar.
