SIBU: The Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Batu 2-6 Jalan Oya here hosted a Christmas and New Year event at a hotel on Saturday night.
The gathering, featuring a dinner reception, was honoured by the presence of the Chinese paramount leader of the Sibu Division Temenggong Datuk Vincent Lau Lee Ming.
“Whether it’s personal achievements or community milestones, it’s crucial to appreciate our progress,” said Vincent.
Vincent expressed appreciation for the JKKK’s efforts in advancing the local community, highlighting the importance of collaboration among local officials, authorities, and departments.
He encouraged the JKKK to continue organising beneficial activities and foster community development.
Chairman of JKKK Batu 2-6 Jalan Oya Kapitan Lau Kiu Seng echoed these sentiments. He thanked residents and committee members for their support and looked forward to new initiatives in the coming year.
“New Year’s Day symbolises new beginnings and hope. Let’s work together for our community’s betterment,” he said.
Also present were Sibu Divisional Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun, Penghulu Lau Hieng Wuong, chairperson of JKKK Kpg Jariah Hamidah Salman, chairman of JKKK Jalan Merdeka, Jalan Oya, Jalan Muhibbah, Jalan Berjaya and Pearl Garden Kapitan So Teck Kee, and organising chairman Lau Ing Chuong.
