KUCHING: The State Health Department (JKNS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) to further improve its services.
JKNS Director, Dr Jamilah Hashim said under the MoU with Bomba, pre-hospital treatments and ambulance services could be delivered more efficiently during emergencies.
She disclosed that a total of 73 Bomba officers took part in a basic pre-hospital treatment training course held from January 31 to February 19 this year.
“JKNS now has two Medical Emergency Call Centres (MECCs), one in Kuching and the other in Miri.
“As of 31 July this year, MECC Kuching received 6,277 emergency calls while MECC Miri, 1,462 calls,” she told reporters during a press conference at the Grand Dormani Rajah Court Hotel here, last Thursday.
Also present to witness the signing ceremony were Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah, State Bomba Director, Nor Hisham Mohammad and Bomba Director General, Datuk Wira Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim.
