Kuching District Police chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai fielding questions from reporters.

KUCHING: A jobless man was arrested for possessing drug during a raid at a house in Kpg Bintawa Tengah, Petra Jaya near here last Monday.

During the 12.45 pm raid, police also seized 13 grams of ‘syabu’ worth RM2,340.

Kuching District Police chief, ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the man, aged 25, was tested negative  for drug and has no criminal record.

During the raid, the man claimed that the drug belongs to him and as a result was arrested.

“We encourage the public to inform us of any drug activity in their area to reduce drug abuse cases,” ACP Abang Ahmad said during a press conference outside a Mobile Police Station at Kuching District Police Headquarters here, yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952.

Meanwhile, he also noted that the crime rate in Kuching is still under control and they are now focusing more on motorcycle theft cases.
