BAU: An unemployed man was arrested for alleged drug possession, in front of a house at Kampung Seringguk yesterday (May 10).
The district’s narcotics police unit carried out a patrol around 4pm for preventive purposes in view of the coming Hari Raya celebration.
Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said the team spotted and detained the suspect who was acting suspiciously in front of an unnumbered house.
“They found a plastic packet containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu, inside the suspect’s bag.
“The drugs, weighing around 0.68g and valued at RM65, were later taken to the police station,” he told.
A background check found that the 30-year-old man had no past record of drug abuse. He was also tested positive for drugs.
Poge stated that the man will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The district NCID’s efforts to curb and detect drug activities in suspected locations, will be carried out continuously in conjunction with the coming festive season.
“Parents must also play a role during this festive season by constantly monitoring their children so that they won’t take advantage of unhealthy activities that could affect their future,” he said.
